Friends:

It's encouraging to encounter constructive criticism and smart thoughts on learning from a "cheap suit" few days and moving ahead. As a constitutionalist sorta guy, I agree with Tim that we should either adhere to or alter Rules of the Ride. And, given the lucidity of Scottie's explanation, I think some fine-tuning of the Rules is in order.

As, very broadly speaking, the "author" of the Rules of the Ride (by which I mean, the guy who followed up on Cannibal's suggestion, then got permission from PBA to plagiarize & prune that club's document), I've told Scottie that I'd be glad to do some redrafting, to help him do same, or to stay the heck out of of the way. My inclination, based on what I've read on the Forum yesterday and today, is to think that we should formalize some meaningful distinctions between A- and B-rides, in order to ensure that both remain as wonderful, fun, challenging, and friendly as they've always been.

I think Scottie has neatly addressed the concerns by saying that "I will also make sure we do a better job at the start of our rides defining the type of ride/rides that we are doing." Clearer "definition" coupled with a clarified Rules of the Road should, in my opinion, make all the difference.

So, from a contented pseudo-parliamentarian and proud member of this great club: THANKS, Tim; and THANKS, Scottie. And by way of an aside to Dan: dang, those sorts of days suck, don't they?!?! (P.S. make sure that the shop checks the threading on your crankarm before putting on new pedals.)
