I agree with everything Donna said and add that the 115 stretch was miserable as well. A good portion of it is also chip 'n seal and that's where we were heading into the wind a good portion of the time. We were lucky to average 12 mph through that portion of the ride. I guess that was payback for the 30+ mph average we had going north on 54.

We saw a little bit of everything from the weather standpoint. The day started out cool with everyone but me wearing some kind of cold weather clothing (lack of planning on my part). By the end of the day I had a pretty good sunburn.

As Donna pointed out, there is no place to get water or use the restroom. Everyone carried two water bottles however, three of us were out of water by the time we reached Meers.

When we first arrived at Mt Scott, the gate was closed due to the cloud cover at the top. Donna convinced us we should go under the gate and do the climb because "that's what we just drove 3 hrs for". The great thing was we didn't need to share the road with cars. Due to the circular route, you don't know what's around each corner and the wind gusts increase as you go up. It was fun standing at the top with the "fog" blowing hard. While we were waiting for the entire group to descend the Park Rangers showed up. Since we were "inside" the gate we didn't know what to expect. They gave us a friendly greeting and simply said they were opening the gate for vehicles.

Have a good time on your trip, hopefully the wind is not as brutal.
