Subject: living your truth

I have realized that I have to do what I think is right based on my own sacred point of view. This cannot be otherwise, unless you follow someone else--usually out of fear. I won't do it unless I have a deep intuitive faith such as I have in Guruji on certain topics.

Luke met Ben Kenobi at his home in the desert in Star Wars 1. Ben told Luke he must come with him if he is to be a jedi. Luke said no--he cannot get involved. Ben said "you must do what you feel is right, of course." Then Luke's parents were killed and he changed his mind. But Ben saw Luke's mind was on the needs of his family and did not judge him, though Ben's was on the universal family. The detachment that Ben said that with forever stuck in my mind.

This reminds me of the story of Gyandev. This was made into a movie that was viewed by Guruji and is shown at SRF temples even today. I will recount the basic situation. I may miss things.

Gyandev's father was a brahmin that had a fall. I think it was sexual. Consequently his children were not seen as Brahmins but outcasts. One day Gyandev asked three pious brahmins to reinstate him as a brahmin. They said they could not because there is no passage in the scriptures that would allow it. Gyandev retorted he is
a brahmin in consciousness and that is what a brahmin should be. With this one covered his mouth. He was a believer in the title passing down thru blood lines. When he did this a cow standing by opened his mouth and finished Gyandev's sentence that he was indeed a brahmin. The priests that had black balled Gyandev for years now saw he was a brahmin and treated him as such.

Kriyananda wrote somewhere about this as he asked Guruji about it. Guruji said that the priests were right to act as they did from their perspective. They were doing what they thought was right. However, Gyandev was more right.

This taught me a lot.

I also see we need the strength to carry out our convictions while being open minded and ready to change to a higher view.
