maybe some of you already have played or looked at doom3. although it's not quite as spooky or story-oriented as our game will be (which still needs to be named, btw), it would prevent as with everything necessary, from amazinjg lighting effects and facial animation to a whole lot of 3d ressources to draw upon, as well as a determined and experienced modding community. It's got zombies and demons and everything, which we could re-texture. the only things we would need is a more "habitable" environment, meaning actual living quarters and so on. including story-stuff into the shooter environment shouldn't be difficult, they already have interactive terminals and pda.
on the bad side is the extensive hardware-hunger...
whatcha think?
