Dear All "Proud of 20" Supporters,
It is an important message for you all who are continuously contributing your valuable effort in "Proud of 20". It is time to clarify afresh the most important point --- Walking in Unison pari passu which is the basic philosophy of Proud of 20.
As a human being, I also know that you may feel fluctuated and disappointed when it is not smooth in seeking supports from your student organizations and some staff in various departments of CityU. Actually, it is totally understandable because the purpose of "Proud of 20" that is to create the big bridge between students, alumni and staff is utterly new to the existing hierarchy. As reported by Kelvin Chan, President of SU, that Proud of 20 is not eligible to apply for student activity fund, whereas it is not easy for Patrick Lee, President of Alumni Association, to apply for alumni activities money support, due to the inherent complicated nature of "Proud of 20". Indeed, on paper it is hard to justify why we should get financial support from CityU for raising fund to outside charity body. I am bound to let you know that the programme is belated to join the 20th Anniversary master plan. Thus, there is no section, committee or department in CityU having obligations to "Proud of 20" at all.
However, honestly, from my best knowledge, there are many staff voluntarily trying hard to explore any possibility to help this creative and meaningful activity, even though they are not on stage (so you don't aware). In fact, we all believe that through these close cooperation, sincere encouragement and frank communication among students, staff and alumni in these few months in MacLehose Trails or meeting rooms, consequently, everyone will love CityU more, everyone will find that we could be more than we thought.
Doubtlessly, such a programme is most beneficial to ourselves, our CityU community, even if Oxfam will receive the raised HK$200,000.
Remember our slogan "Not to be Naive, to be considerate, and to be equipped against all odds pari passu". Be considerate to one another, no matter where in trails or meeting room. Now we are behind the schedule, but it would be a historic turning point if we, including myself, could unite all CityU community and learn to appreciate each helps provided by staff, student helpers and alumni, rather
than complaining what they cannot do for you. Learn to control our tongues! Try to walk/work in unison and give trust to those who hesitate and fear to commit at the beginning.
We could make the impossible mission to be possible because we all care CityU and are willing to contribute our powers to light up her name, right?
For your information, invitation to Sir Gordon Wu as our Honorary Marshal (ºaÅA²Î«Ó) and President Chang as Honorary Chief Coach (ºaÅAÁ`»â¶¤) has been done. I believe many senior management people would support us, Kelvin, Patrick and I will keep on seeking their advices.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Bryan Wong
