At the time of going to press, there was nothing from Newcastle. Would be a fair bet that they became interested after reading the article, which, for a team struggling would make a lot of sense approaching one of the better props in them game. Gando would be a hero to Newcastle for bring the matter to light. It is a loss to the Butchers - but I am sure they are proud that one of their seasons gains is going on to the higher level. Would have been a coup - but that is life. Hopefully, if Smith is inclined he will be back at the Butchers next year.

Your comment about Gando is way off the mark. He has helped reserect a good footballers first grade career, he has not ended up with egg on his face in any way.
