Pain shot through her, something she should be accustomed to but wasn't. Every nerve seemed on fire as millions of voices cried out in agony before being forever silenced on a madman's whim. Curled into a ball, feathered wings bonelessly limp with knees drawn up to her chin she could only rock as the torture continued. She began to wish feverently that she would die, if only to end the torment that was being sent to her by those unsuspecting creatures who didn't know what they did. She felt rather than heard the growling purr from the black beast that stood above her. Sulfur yellow eyes stared down at her, screaming silently for her to fight back, to live. Ivory fangs glistened as the panther snarled voicelessly in rage. She wept, unable to do more that feel hopelessly helpless against this monster.

She cradled Keman's head on her lap like she had done once before, only this time there was no way to save him. He was already dying from energy depletion, the force of Vain's attention getter draining him of critical resources. He had felt it coming and had shielded her as he always shielded her. He had called up the pheonix shield, a flame-bright shield that was inpenatratable. It was a move only one who was protecting another would do for it inveriably killed the one who summoned the shield. Tears slid down her cheeks and ran down his face as though they had been his tears instead of hers. She didn't even feel Vain's presence as he passed not that far from her.
