Pressure had settled in my heart. I will never forget that sensation. If willpower alone could crush a man, I would not live to write... if you consider this living any longer.

"How many shadows are there in the world?" Was all he spoke. Yellow eyes released me as he turned away and the pressure subsided. I am frightened now.

Crystin's fingers slid across the carved wood, rolling it across her nails with the soft click of earth upon earth. Her lips were downcast now, no longer turned in the fascimily of a smile. Alone, she could stand to betray such a minor flaw. "How many sparrows." The smile quirked a fraction of an inch, barely escaping its frown.
