What delicate webs we weave, those of us fated to remain here. One thousand cycles come and go, patterns fading through the stars and beyond them. At times it feels more correct to watch those pinpricks of celestial light, worlds corrupting themselves and burning brightly until at last breath they fade. Why would one ever chose to seek that which blackens flesh and only vanishes after its capture? Odd and delicate, we wanderers, caught in a web not our own and making new strands with each fluttering heartbeat.

Such soft hair for a young one, and so much of it. Her mother's hair.

Grace so simple to attain, a beauty far more delicate than silvered spiderweb or brilliant starburst, light and darkness bound in equilibrium inside of one tiny being. Every mother's child. Her eyes are gentle now, puffy and pink from recent crying, storm of grief passed away with its tiny raindrops. Such lightning in that cloudburst, such intensity. Her cry is haunting, though it has faded to nothing, still an icy touch in my heart.

And if the mother does not accept her, what then?

A question that haunts me more deeply than even the girl's insistent wail. She is quiet now though, blonde curls matted to her too-large head and puffy eyelids hide the startling green of her soul, the life that flows there and is echoed back by a large spirit contained in a small body.

He will be furious when he finds her missing.

Slender fingers brushed blood-flushed cheeks, turning to stroke skin with the back of a fingernail. Such fragile webs we weave, and so easily do they crumble.

Tyrsis was alone now, standing as a forgotten sentinal as the remnants of the smoke faded, caught up by the rains cascade and driven towards its own personal oblivion. She wanted nothing more than to go home now, the dull ache sitting next to her heart speaking of more than the water that dripped from her wings and the hunger that sat in her stomach. She had forgotten to eat for several days now, instincts driving her on when she should have rested... and all this time spent towards accomplishing very little.

The Wyrd creature's words still stung in her ears. Not many could go on without a purpose for long and her thoughts harrowed her. When her home had failed her and she in turn failed her home, she had lost purpose. It was time to find one.

They say the hardest part of a long journey is always the first step. The one that begins taking you away from everything you love. From your safe places. And from your comfort zone. It was not a difficult step when you had nothing to walk away from. A raindrop rolled along the bridge of her nose, hanging in a suspended drop a moment before plunking earthward with its companions.

"All Knights need Seers." A smile barely lifted her mouth at the thought. She had an idea of where to go now. "Nightmare, Gryff, if I asked you to fight a war with me, would you?"

Lackered fingernails ceased the rhythm that had beset them as Onimaru spoke. Crystin had been reminiscing, something she had not paused to do in quite some time. "Onimaru, your armies are in place and you have enemies enough to trouble you. Let Nemesis choose her own noose, but do not place your head in the one beside it. Her agenda is much different than your own and has no regard for your well being in the long run."

This had been a long day, one tiring report after another pouring in from each of her spies. Enzeru had moved, of that much she was sure, and the strange creature that prowled had moved as well. Its essence stunk around Kiassa's tattered body, leaving a rancid taste in her mouth though it lay against the far wall. Where each had gone, she was not sure, but the sensation remained strong in her mind that this new ground was not entirely stable.

"Your 'daughter' is missing. Our opponent's have changed position in less than five hours and the seal is renewed upon the demonrealm. All point to a clear direction on our part. It is time to vanish." Red tipped fingernail caught the light as she held it to her lips, eyes demanding silence as he began to voice his opinion. "It is better to live and fight tomorrow than to die and have no tomorrow."

She stood, noble's dress swishing with the sound of silk and velvet as she stepped to Kiassa's body. Taking the torch from its sconce, she lay it in the corpse's lap and stepped back. The flame's reflection danced against the green backdrop of her eyes.

"My people are already moving, most gone now. Yours may do as you'd like." She could guess at his thoughts, the knowledge that her people by far outnumbered his now. And it had been him who had made that all too possible. She had what she wanted, and unless he could make a farther deal, that contract had ended with both sides fairly paid.
