I Can’t believe that this is even being spoken about - Gymnastics is a dangerous sport, artistic and rhythmic alike - the coaches have to support the girls in order for them to do the movements safely and correctly. This also applies to basic body preparation work. If the gymnast can not feel where her body should be, in the correct place, then she needs help from the coach to place her body in the correct place, until it becomes second nature to her. If the coach does not do this work at the beginning properly, then later on when she comes to learn more difficult and dangerous skills, the gymnast is missing the correct technique for all the pre-requisite skills, and will be unable to achieve the more complex skills, hence hindering her development, skill learning and competition routine elements. And ultimately her competitive experiences as she won't have the skills to enable her to compete at British and beyond.
It's about when and how, obviously you don’t need to support them forever, just until they feel confident that they have got the skills correct.

It's like riding a bike with stabiliser’s you take them off when you feel confident, you still might fall over a few times, but you get up and carry on.... as you want to learn how to ride the bike! Now imagine that process for every single gymnastic movement and element - imagine how many you see in every routine at British!!!!
