I couldn't agree more with your statements. I have to admit I hate politics. I try to avoid the subject whenever I can, that doesn't mean that I don't pay attention to what is going on, I just choose to remove myself from the arguments. I feel like this year especially people can't just have a simple discussion whether you agree or disagree it always goes beyond that JMO. Truth is like you said everybody has the right to their opinion, values, morals, etc. Whether people agree or disagree all we can do is be as informed as we can and not take all outside influences like the media at their word. Most are just interested in ratings, not all but most. We need to make up our own mind and look at every politician, and like you said weigh the pros and cons.
Nobody is perfect, if they were the decision would be easy, and there would be no reason for debate.

On another note I would like to say that I am proud of your father and anyone who had the courage to enter into war . I also had many family members in the military, some were drafted, some were not. Whatever stance people have on war I do have to say that I have the utmost respect and pride in people who choose to enter the military life, because I know they had more strength and courage than I ever did. And for that I would never utter a negative word against our troops. JMO, JMO.

I hope by writing this I have not offended anyone, that is not my intention, it is just my opinion.
