I've read the rants to the effect that stupid, stripping, hoochie Blair IS Malone's Blair, after all she trapped Todd into marriage when she found out he was rich, married Asa for money, was always willing to use sex as her weapon of choice, but please
The first Blair always had some sexual morals. She was a virgin when she came to Llanview, and that was something that was important to her at the time, important enough not to sleep with Max (who had not been loonified and was the show's reigning catch of the day) UNTIL she was ready to marry Asa, at which point, she wanted to give her virginity to someone who meant something to her.
Blair 1 lied to Dorian and to Viki in order to take care of her mother and get revenge for what she really believed Dorian had done to her. She, temporarily at least, managed to outsmart everyone in town, except Tina. That was actually a pretty well-crafted story.
Blair 2 slept with Max when she came back even though he was married, but she was in love with him. She slept with Cord because she wanted to love him (and if the current story involved Cord, not Kevin, I'd be behind it 100% - I'd want Blair with Todd and Cord with Tina, but I'd be liking the story idea and watching to see how it played out, because Blair and Cord have always been special to each other ever since they went to Malaysia to rescue Jake and there's never been any love lost between Blair and Tina). She slept with Todd out of friendship, then pragmatism, then love.
So, it's not quite true to say that Blair has always had the sensibilities of an alley cat, because she used to have her problems and a few twists to her morals, but she always did have a fiercely loving heart and a strong sense of sexual self-respect which she had to be completely love-crazed to let fown even for a second. THAT Blair would never have wasted two minutes on Kevin Buchanan who, clearly, until a couple of months ago, would not have spit on her if she'd been on fire.
THAT Blair may have had her moments with her family but would not betray family, even Kelly, over an outsider (remember when she caught Marty and Andrew?)
THAT Blair was not a simpering, slobbering, overaged sex kitten. She would have looked at Kevin and gone, "What's in it for me?" The answer is nothing. He's a lose-lose proposition for her. What does he have to offer? Love? Look at his track record - the guy loves no one but Kevin Buchanan, and once he gets a girl, he's done with her. Respect? She can't get that from Kevin himself (unless she turns him down) OR by marrying him. Homewreckers who steal men from their own cousins don't get much public respect. Besides, she's got her own money, her own job, and her own country club membership. Money? Maybe before she had her own (Todd's), but not now. Excitement? Kevin's hardly Mr. Excitement.
So, bullshit on that story. It is in character with the post-Ireland Blair, who has made some inexplicably bad choices in the man department. But post-Ireland Blair is pretty much 100% bullshit, too. No offense meant to KDP, who has really knocked my socks off and kept me watching Blair even though I think she's pretty much used up.
