Subject: Things Hidden: Interdividual Psychology

I found the first couple of chapters in Book Three of "Things Hidden" very interesting. Especially the points brought up about hypnosis and its relationship to mimesis. I had never really thought about hypnosis in thatway before, that it is a kind of mimesis wherein the hypnotist is the mediator challenging the individual to imitate the behavior they suggest without entering the idea of rivalry. This idea of peaceful mimesis as Jean-Michel Oughourlian describes it, is really interesting to me, especially since it seems that so many of the examples of mimesis that we've come across end badly, either the examples followed are poor examples to begin with or the mimesis leads to rivalry.

It's a different experience to read about mimetic theory in a more psychological light.
