Jon, I think my favorite part of that clip is the bumper sticker that says, "War is not the answer." It's the classic Girardian blindspot. I'm guessing that the holiday music playing in the background means that these mothers were coming from an already stressful Christmas shopping experience, and that this scene is one in which they scapegoat their frustration onto one another. I think it's page 41 of the Scapegoat (?) where Girard says, "We only have legitimate enmities." The clip also hints at Girard's point that things like wars often stem from many little conflicts of acquistive mimesis.
