Subject: South Park Sacrafice

We've talked a lot in class about a culture cleaning up the myths that seem altogether too violent. South Park recently aired an episode where it was explained to the boys that Brittney Spears was being dogged by the public for the express purpose of making her kill herself. The boys, astonished, asked why the good people of south park would do such a thing. The paparatzi responded by telling the boys sacrafice had always been necessary in the community, but the old way of stoning the victim was just too messy and bloodied the communities hands too much. Forcing her to kill herself from stress, on the other hand, allowed the community to stay clean from the violence. It appears we're not the only ones reading Girard (maybe...).
