Also, in the most recent Spiderman movie, Eddie Brock is in many ways basically a twin to Peter Parker. He, like Peter, attempts to work as a freelance photo journalist and they both have ties to Gwen Stacy, Peter as a friend who later dates her to get back at Mary Jane, and Eddie who is in love with her. Although Eddie gets a shot of Spiderman that is what J. Jonah Jameson wants (landing him the job over Peter) Peter later reveals that the shot was all photoshopping. Between this and Peter stealing his girl, Eddie become enraged and wants revenge. In fact, it is because of this anger, hurt, vengeance, and jealousy that he is able to become Venom. And what is his goal once he becomes Venom? To kill Peter. Just like Peter, he wants revenge. The fact that only minutes earlier in the movie Peter is seen in his venomized version of his Spiderman suit further emphasizes how similar they are.
