Subject: A continuation of Girard's discussion of the tomb

In Girard's account of the Gospels he briefly speaks of the idea of tombs and also Christ's address to the people who he says are hypocrites for building the tombs of prophets and condemning their fathers. Girard says that the tomb is a metaphor for the hidden violence that lies behind the process of group violence that cannot be unearthed once it is shut. I was surprised that Girard did not contine on to speak of how the Gospel further addressed this idea. I wonder if this idea of the tomb is part of the resurrection in the gospels in which Jesus' tomb lay open and empty, save for the funeral shroud. This image seems to represent very well the idea that Christ's death has revealed the Mimetic cycle of violence, or has unearthed and cracked open the "tomb" of all arbitrary victims in history.
