I don't mean to be too particular, but maybe the passage from Luke merits examination from a slightly different angle. Jesus says, "when you go with your *accuser* before a magistrate", which sounds as though He addresses debtors primarily. Addressing creditors, He should certainly advocate forgiving debts, as later (or earlier?) He discourages charging interest. But what advice do you think He's giving to debtors? Would it relate to self-sacrifice at all, or may we be left with the unsatisfying "street-smarts" explanation? What if you are the jerk who stole the Dante?
