You absolutely made my day by saying that you snubbed Eric Clapton Dr. Jackson! I personally can't understand why anyone would choose Eric over George, but then again I guess I am a biased Beatles fan and George is my favorite! :)
To get back on track :)...Another song that was mentioned in class when we listened to "Jessie's Girl", was "My Best Friend's Girl" by the Cars. Ric Ocasek and the boys are not exactly like Rick Springfield, the girl is not some random girl; as a matter of fact they have actually had the opportunity to have the girl in question, but they have let her go. As a result, the girl ends up with a friend and becomes the object of their desire again. Another song that is similar to "My Best Friend's Girl" is "This Boy" by the Beatles, although in this case the ex-girlfriend is not stolen away by a good friend, but by a rival who is obviously up to no good, making 'this boy' determined to win her back. Here are the lyrics to both of these songs (two of my favorites by the way! :))

-MY BEST FRIEND'S GIRL by THE CARS-
Youre always dancing down the street
With your suede blue eyes
And every new boy that you meet
He doesnt know the real surprise

(here she comes again)
When shes dancing neath the starry sky
Oo, shell make you flip
(here she comes again)
When shes dancing neath the starry sky
I kinda like the way she dips
Well shes my best friends girl
Shes my best friends girl-irl
But she used to be mine

Youve got your nuclear boots
And your drip dry glove
Oo when you bite your lip
Its some reaction to love, o-ove, o-ove
(here she comes again)
When shes dancing neath the starry sky
Yeah, I think youll flip
(here she comes again)
When shes dancing neath the starry sky
(here she comes again)
I kinda like the way, I like the way she dips
cause shes my best friends girl
Well shes my best friends girl-irl
And she used to be mine
Shes so fine

Youre always dancing down the street
With your suede blue eye-eyes
And every new boy that you meet
Doesnt know the real surprise

(here she comes again)
When shes dancing neath the starry sky
(here she comes again)
Oh, shell make you flip
(here she comes again)
When shes dancing neath the starry sky
(here she comes again)
I kinda like the way, I like the way she dips
cause shes my best friends girl, uh
Shes my best friends girl-irl-u-irl
She used to be mine
She so, fine

(my best friends girlfriend)
Oh
(my best friends girlfriend)
She used to be mine
(my best friends girlfriend)
Yeah yeah
(my best friends girlfriend)
Said she used to be mine
(my best friends girlfriend)
Oh, yeah yeah yeah
(my best friends girlfriend)
She used to be mine
(my best friends girlfriend)

-THIS BOY by THE BEATLES-
That boy took my love away
Though he'll regret it someday
But this boy wants you back again

That boy isn't good for you
Though he may want you too
This boy wants you back again

Oh, and this boy would be happy
Just to love you, but oh my
That boy won't be happy
Till he's seen you cry

This boy wouldn't mind the pain
Would always feel the same
If this boy gets you back again

This boy
This boy
This boy (fade out)
