Fox News is owned by an Australian man named Rupert Murdoch. He also owns newspapers as well. There is Fox television and then there is the Fox News Network. Fox television is known for its raunchy, 'cutting edge' programing. Most of Fox shows are disgusting. But I guess all of T.V. has taken a turn for the worse.

As one who is a cable news junkie, I can give you an honest assessment of cable news. CNN leans liberal and focuses more on international news. I would say CNN has more of a 'European' flavor to it. Fox News has more 'talk-show' discussion. The two popular shows on Fox news are Bill OReilly and Hannity and Colms. I would describe O Reilly as Libertarian but he is good about putting people on that oppose his opinion. The other show is Sean Hannity and Alan Colms. Hannity is the conservative and Colms is the liberal. They debate each other and take turns questioning guests. To cut to the chase, Fox is faster moving, more interesting and offers a conservative viewpoint as well as liberal. CNN is more international, slower moving and a bit 'stodgier'. There are 2 other cable news channels, MSNBC and CNBC but they are not very popular and few people watch it.

The regular news networks consist of ABC, NBC and CBS with Dan Rather. All were pro-Kerry during the election and all lean liberal.

Here is how the media shapes up:

On the Left you have: CBS,NBC,ABC, CNN. Also, NY Times, LA Times and most major newspapers.

On the Right you have: Fox News, and talk radio. I don't know about Germany but talk radio is BIG in the United States. Not much has been said about its influence in the election.
