.....there was so little movement in the courtyard, so when the air rustled the tops of the trees she looked, hoping for a small bird. when the bushes brushed against each other, she wished for a frog or even a chipmunk. and when another sound was made she wondered curiously for even just a lizard. there was a growl, and her reflexes jumped slightly, she looked around, but something else caught her eye...
....she quickly rose and lowered her head to her master, resuming her stance. she stood slightly different than normal slaves, feet in a sort of dancer's first position. her arms slid across her stomach, but not out of fear. she kept her back straight, shoulders curved. the stance was a good form for her, showing off a few of her features without being invasive.
....."my lord?" what she really wanted at this point was for him to tell her she was safe, something she was most likely not going to get. but on normal occasions the shadows didn't growl...

.. senses hit a high point almost immediately, gaze traveling the courtyard in search of the source. he moved quickly to Alina's side, one arm reaching out to wrap around her waist, her fear permeating the air. no, shadows didn't usually growl. but he had a feeling this was what he had sensed the night before. "You should come out, we both know you're there." ..
