Subject: fund-raising idea

Need to raise money for your school group? Try something a bit different. Try washing houses. All you need is a pressure washer, along with some detergent, some sponges, squeegees and rubber gloves and a lot of willling club members. They'll be glad to pitch in on a Saturday -- especially if you tell them it will save them from having to see 10 cases of chocolate bars or greeting cards. Also, it can be a fun time that builds club togetherness. Start by making sure you have the equipment then post signs in the windows of grocery stories or other places you ask for "promo" space. Make sure the merchants know it's for a good cause. They may even want you to do the store's windows. Set a minimum donation price but make sure signs and your club members tell those who inquire about the event that donations above that amount are not only appreciated but go to a good cause. There are many older folks in every community who would love to get their windows clean and the summer dust knocked off their home's shutters and exterior walls. Good luck. P.S. be careful of using your power washer too forcefully on aging homes where cracked paint might be blasted off by strong water streams.
