Concordo com a posição de Regina. O termo cunhado por Dickinson (1991:122) não é uma forma de apresentar uma relação afetiva e sem limites com o aluno. Mas uma maneira do aluno se sentir mais a vontade para questionar, perguntar, de maneira que a aprendizagem possa fluir em um ambiente mais descontraído - "the learner feels free to approach him and can talk freely and easily with him in a warm and relaxed atmosphere (Dickinson,1991:122). Ademais, "helper" conduz o aprendiz para a aprendizagem autônoma e acredita em sua capacidade de planejar e conduzir sua própria aprendizagem - "the helper´s perception of the learner´s capacity to plan and undertake his own learning. The ideal helper has confidence in the learner´s ability to make appropriate plans and arragements for his learning (Dickinson,1991:123)".
E tratando do paple do "ajudante" na aprendizagem autônoma não é deixa o aluno fazer o que quiser. Mas é definir tarefas para que o aluno possa desenvolver tarefas e isso pode ser feito através das estratégias de aprendizagem - "in order to advise learners about the best way for them to go about their learning, and in order to be able to recommend alternatives to learners who are not succeeding (Dickinson,1991:124).
