The article links to several clinical studies that have confirmed its effectiveness, including this 15-year double-blind placebo-controlled one:

Bupropion study

There is overwhelming evidence in the form of placebo-controlled studies that these drugs are effective for their intended purposes. One study that shows certain people respond to the placebos doesn't invalidate that.
