I don't understand the "I told you so..." stance you are taking on this. Why are you putting your "vindication" out here for all of us to see? What did you want to personally get out of it? What did you want to do to the other people that read this board when you wrote that? Did you not realize how inflammatory your approach might be?

It is insulting to anyone who has ever had repeated major depressive episodes and has received the benefits of SSRIs, and the presumption that everyone else in the world is wrong is unbelieveable. Let the people who are getting help from these drugs benefit from that help in peace. Tricyclics are a whole different deal and outdated because of proven risks outweighing the benefits. I don't see this article being about tricyclics like you were on.

The article clearly states that SSRIs are effective in severe cases. I am living proof of that. I would be dead and DD would have been a widow if I had not gone through a series of drug trials with my therapist to find out what drug or drug combo would help to bring me out of hell. And it's certainly not only drugs that help depression, but when a person is being utterly dehabilitated due to the chemical imbalance and some sort of relief is finally found from taking an antidepressant, saying that these drugs are nothing but placebos and do nothing to help a depressed person chemically is poppycock.
