Gandhi was fighting modern Britain. Change that with the Mongol horde and you can guess the outcome. Public opinion only matters in democratic countries with a modern western view of justice. That describes less than half the planet.

I am all for avoiding unnecessary wars, but I do believe sometimes you need to fight. I resent pacifists for being free riders in those situations. While I never saw the point of the war in Iraq I do think Afghanistan was fully justified and I did note the pacifist response to it.
