I supported the Afghanistan war, and all of the liberals I know did too. I'd venture to say that most liberals are able to make the distinction between necessary and unnecessary wars. And the wars that have been protested most heavily in recent years (Iraq and Vietnam) wouldn't have affected our freedoms one bit if we hadn't fought them. When we fight wars unnecessarily, people around the world see us as a tyrant, and they use us as a rallying point to advance terrorist agendas, and we become a greater target for attacks. It has to stop.
