Cass, you don't even need to look up "the rule." Your subject line says it all. It would make no sense at all if it said "Dedicated to use proper grammar."

If a letter to the school board didn't help, I'd suggest one to the editor of the biggest newspaper around. No one would understand (let alone care about) "the rule." Just include examples like your subject line.

The rule, by the way, has to do with the incorrect prescription in English that you can't "split an infinitive." This rule was imposed on English by Latinate snobs. In Romance languages, it's impossible to split an infinitive.

However, in English, what looks like an infinitive is often a verb + a particle, usually followed by an object.

Therefore, if the verb is really a form of "dedicate to" --as in, "I dedicate to my followers..." or "I dedicate to all those who came before me..." then you can't use anything but a gerund after it (i.e., an -ing form of the verb).

I told you no one cares about the rules. How many of you are still awake?
