Subject: WTF?!

My daughter called last night after the LSU - Ole Miss game. She was appalled at the Ole Miss fans (in fairness it was just the student section, not all the fans). As the LSU band was marching off the field after half time, students started hurling drinks, ice, trash, beer at the BAND! WTF is up with that? Blair was pelted in the face by ice. A Louisiana policeman got hit in the face with a full water bottle... he promptly jumped the fence and got into the student section and manhandled the boy who tossed it. The band members were not even allowed to go to the bathroom alone because it was deemed unsafe.

Now I have to ask you.... is this normal? I can remember as a teenager going to LSU football games that there were often very drunk, rude fans who would fight with drunken fans of the opposing teams, but never an assault on a random passer-by or the band for godsakes. The in-stands fighting went away when they stopped selling beer in the stadium concession stands, and in the last 5 years I have never witnessed any altercations at an LSU home game. I am just stunned that anybody would "assault" the band.

After the game when they were marching back to the buses, a grown woman drove her car right along side and opened her door to hit somebody and started screaming and cursing AT THE BAND! A little girl of no more than six, standing with her parents, flipped off the band and screamed F*CK YOU LSU. I think Blair had her jaw dropped for 3 hours straight yesterday. LOL She's never witnessed such behavior before.

Perhaps they thought the band could've beaten their football team? SHEESH

Holy crap, please tell me not everybody from Mississippi behaves like this! My image of genteel southerners sipping mint juleps is shattered. MFing rednecks!
