Well, from what I remember of the fifties, when most working women were nurses or schoolteachers, and the overwhelming majority were housewives, it seems to me that most of those women, generally speaking, were treated more respectfully than they are now. I think that the PC revolution and women entering the workforce in a big way were rather more unrelated than is your impression. Or that's how it seems to me.
