I share books with a lawyer friend of mine in Toronto. He gave me The Fionavar Tapestry to read.

That Christmas I was at a party in the Beaches. Chuck, the lawyer was there. We were standing in a small group and he asked me what I thought of it. I gave an honest review. It had issues.

When I finished he said "Paul, I'd like you to meet Guy Kay." They were neighbours.

Try "Memory Sorrow and Thorn" by Tad Williams. Totally different take on fantasy.
