杜陵叟，杜陵居，歲種薄田一頃餘。

三月無雨早風起，麥曲不秀多黃死。

九月降霜秋早寒，禾穗未熟皆青乾。

長吏明知不申破，急歛暴徵求考課。

典桑賣地納官租，明年衣食將何如？

剝我身上帛，奪我口中粟。

虐人害物即豺狼，何必爪鋸牙食人肉！

不知何人奏皇帝，帝心惻隱知人弊。

白麻紙上書德音，京畿盡放今年稅。

昨日里胥方到門，手持敕牒牓鄉村。

十家租稅九家畢，虛受吾君蠲免恩！

　　這是《新樂府》第三十篇。杜陵，漢宣帝葬所。在長安東南郊。此泛指這一帶地區。叟，老頭。

　元和四年（８０９），長江流域災情嚴重，李絳、白居易奏請免稅。憲宗雖名義上頒佈了免稅令，並遣使宣慰豁免，貪官污吏陽奉陰違，照樣”急歛暴徵”，災民得不到絲毫實惠。

　　這首詩，通過杜陵老人的遭遇，反映災民的苦況，斥貪官污吏”虐人害物”的暴行，表現詩人對被剝削被壓迫者的悲憫。
