中國的政治形式是影響香港政情的主要關鍵，而大部份中國人生命的質素是影響中國政情的重要因素。一個民主追求者－－張伯笠的經歷和意見，很值得我們參考。

張伯笠：

一九八九年，天安門民主運動爆發時，我擔任絕食團體和天安門指揮部的副總指揮。八九年六月四日的槍聲一響，我生平第一次，失去了平安。前一天還共享一盒便當的同學，許多躺下就不再起來；那是我第一次思考死亡。如果此刻生命結束，我將去哪裡呢？很早我就知道人除了肉體，還有靈魂。我的靈魂會去哪裡？我不知道！

裂變與漂泊

一九八九年六月十三日中共發出通緝令，通緝王丹等二十一名學生領袖。記得當時，我正躲在一位老友家中，從中央電視台聽到自己被通緝，無助地望向朋友，他卻有意避開我的眼光，我立刻知道自己該怎麼做。
