sounds to me that the primary coil is open or grounded.Test the primary ignition coil(the coil under the flyweel)with a ohm meter ,test continuty to ground,The test shoud be extrimly high or out of limits O.L.,Next test the coil wire to wire with fly wheel off,the resistance shoud be aprox. 2 ohms.
