I also have 2 close people to me who always call me "boobie". I've been told the literal translation was that of a grandmotherly person (which I didn't quite understand) yet another tells me it's also used as an endearing name for close friend or person in one's life. Seeing as they're both very close to me, I take the latter description.

So when I'm called boobie now, it just means to me that that person holds me close to their heart. :o)
