 Hi Jane, I think Lara has some words of wisdom here. Also, I would point out that (1) just this past week on the U.S. news, there was a news release about stong warnings of potential side effects with "children" (i.e., teens and younger) taking antidepressents. Apparently there's a higher risk of suicide at the start and end of the drug treatment. I don't remember if you're in the U.S., but I think you're wise to be very cautious. Many studies have shown counseling to be comparable to drug therapy in treating depression (some docs ignore this because drugs are quicker than talk therapy). So if you can get help without the meds (and I would work really hard to try), that might be better.
