New Orleans seems to be the location several of the models keep working towards...I heard that the tropical guy on the weather channel made a small slip when he said it may head for ' New...'...but then caught himself and said eastern Louisiana.

Hey ya'll,
We have a tower team currently deploying on the Gulf Coast as I type this. Five towers total hoping to catch the right eyewall. We did the same for Frances and did pretty well. I rode with the SMART radar team, with both Drs. Weiss (now at Tech) and Biggerstaff (from OU) driving and operating a mobile mesonet. We ended up getting great dual doppler data! I rode out my first hurricane on a bridge connecting Cocoa to its barrier island. Good times and lots of "velocity couplets" to dodge! Its good to have your own radar team! Ivan looks to be wrapping in some dry air as of this morning, but we'll see if this heat eddy its about to pass over in the Gulf will help it out some prior to landfall.
