Subject: Ivan & Mobile Bay

The latest NHC track suggests that the center of Ivan will pass directly over Mobile Bay. If Ivan tracks just 10 miles west of this forecast, the storm surge in Mobile Bay would be unreal. Buoy obs south of Mobile Bay are reporting wave heights of 36 ft. It will be interesting to see what the wave heights are as the eyewall passes over these buoys. Forecasted max wave heights are near 50 ft.

That same buoy South of Dauphin Island reported a wave height of 52.5 ft at 2350 UTC.
