Actually, you have brought up an interesting point. This topic is highly discussed among videogame developers. Technically, it is illegal to copy sounds from other videogames. However, many sounds are so generic that anyone would hardly tell. The trick here is not to copy any sound that is too typical of any specific game or TV/show. That is why I say I'll modify all sounds slightly (lenght, speed, or otherwise) to make them practically unregconizable, yet still good.

Some of the videogames may be using sounds from other videogames with permission from these videogame developers, or might have even bought the franchise. For example, Blizzard made WarCraft and StarCraft. Tomorrow they could make another game and use a sound from either, because its theirs. However, If I use a sound from them, I may actually get into a legal issue. That is why I am working in a very careful way. I believe the next Astroseries RTS update will be around december, because right now I am currently designing the new web site layout for Astroseries, and also making final changes for Astroseries Episode 1 before going onto anything else. I am pretty sure the new look is going to be a lot cooler than the actual one.

Use this also as a tip for Epsilon 96. Use graphics from out there (clipart, photos, etc), use sounds from out there, but modify them in a way that they wont be readily recognizable, yet still be cool. If you can make your own, all the better. But if not, the tip works. :-)
