 Let's start with Carol approaching Ed dressed in a suit of armor. When she took off her helmet, with her full blonde hair, she looked just like Joan of Arc. This had to be done on purpose. She looked radiant and ready to commit to Ed. Frankie, in contrast, is too trim and proper looking; in other words, a lawyer.
