(It might have been that she was finally relaxing, losing the stress that had kept the baby awake all afternoon.. but she liked to think that it was Justin's soft voice and gentle touch that had made the baby settle into sleep. She felt the change in her belly, the lack of bubbly movements, the sudden quietness.. and she welcomed it. She smoothed her shirt back over her belly, watching Skeeter with a quiet smile on her features. There was nothing more beautiful to her than the look of awe on his handsome features as he watched their child moving in her belly. She never allowed the thought to enter her mind that the child might not be his.. because that was something she wasn't prepared to allow. This baby was his, signed, sealed and delivered.. that was all there was to it - no God of hers would be so cruel as to give her the child of a rapist. Coming off this thought, she was slightly stunned by his words, and it must have shown because he was smiling gently back at her. She sputtered a little, not making a sound, just looking at him.. but he was gone before she could answer him. You'll stay here.. Now that was a loaded statement. What did he mean by that? Well.. of course he meant to look after her.. it would be easier for him to do that if she lived with him. Logistically it made a hell of a lot of sense.. moving now would be impossible, with the baby due in about a week. Plus. she had a feeling he would want his baby around all the time, not just when it was convenient. That's what it was, she told herself, he just wanted to be in control of the situation. She went to the sliding glass window and looked out, watching him as he spoke to the dogs. Of course she yearned for him to look on her with love again.. to have even a little bit of their former relationship back again.. but she was practical enough to look out for her child too. She wouldn't refuse his hospitality if only to ensure that he would be in their child's life.)
