Subject: Who ya gonna call?

WHO YA GONNA CALL?

"But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and when he began to sink, he cried out, "Lord save me!"

Matthew 14:30
===========================================================

How well Peter knows that he can call on the name of the Lord and be saved!

All Peter cried out was "Lord save me!" and the hand of Jesus pulled him up out of a certain death. In Acts chapter two, verse 21, Peter is reciting scripture written by the prophet Joel..."And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

To encourage you here, Peter was a unique character; very headstrong, physically big and physically strong; a man's man;he used his physical appearance and hardheadedness to sometimes do this thinking and talking. But it was his faith, or lack of it that got him in some trouble, but in his plight he saw how God never turned His back on him, never condemned him and on the day of Pentecost made him Israel's version of Billy Graham. And 3,000 people became followers of Jesus Christ that day.

Who are YOU going to call on for help?

Peter got into some real messes if you will remember. (I love Peter because he sometimes reminds me of myself, but that is another story and a testimony to God's miracle working power!)Anyway, back to my topic....

His head got in the way of his faith and he tried to do everything in the flesh. He was going to make things happen. One minute he was being led by the spirit and acknowledging who Jesus was and the very next minute trying to stop the plans of God and Jesus had to rebuke Satan off of him; one minute he was jumping out of the boat and into the water full of faith that he could walk on water and the next he was sinking because he had his eyes on the waves; one minute he was being led deep into the garden to pray with Jesus but instead fell asleep, then ended up cutting off the ear of a temple guard; one minute he was declaring his unwavering, undying faith and allegence to Jesus and the next minute he was denying him 3 times in public.

Then he became broken....

And now God could finally use him and did by making him the first evangelist in Israel.

How often have you felt that you messed up so bad that God simply could not use you ever again? I know I have felt that way. But it's not true.

Look at what the scripture tell us in Proverbs 24:16.

" A righteous man falls seven times but gets back up..."

The fact is, God can't use you if you are perfect. First no one is perfect except for Jesus. Next, if you think you are perfect or at least should be, then you are full of pride which is the very sin that caused Satan to be cast from Heaven ( so pride is a pretty bad sin in God's eyes since he opposes the proud and give grace to the humble...)

We have to be broken and fallible in order to really show God's glory and amazing grace. In fact the more screwy you are the better for God. God gains more glory for Himself when you are.

Don't ever think you're too far gone and that God could never use you. Mighty men of the Bible all had their faults and big ones I might add.

Some of those men are: Adam, Abraham, Moses, David, Elijah, Jonah, Thomas, Peter, and even Paul. These men really messed up big time but were still considered mighty men of God.

Have you messed up? Sinned? Fallen short? We all have and will in the future. But remember this:

"everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

No if's, and's or but's about it. If you call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ you will be saved.

I fall down and I get back up. It's as simple as that. Where is the complicated religious formula in that? There is none. God made it simple for us all. EVERYONE WHO CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED. PERIOD.

So don't think you have done something so bad that you can't be saved. Paul was a murder... Peter again rebelled against Jesus some 14 years after Christ rose from the dead, Elijah ran from Jezabel in fear and was depressed, Moses got angry and disobeyed God, David had an adulterous affair and had the woman's husband killed. No body is perfect. You just have to have a heart after God and call on Him. You will be saved. I guarantee it.

Here is some additional scripture reading if you need to be encouraged.

Psalm 37: 24
Psalm 55:22
Psalm 145:14

May God bless each of you this day. Offer your body as a living sacrifice to the Lord Jesus Christ and get in training for your Personal Great Commission.

Real Bodybuilding is building the Body of Christ for your PGC. Are you ready to get in shape for Jesus?

Have a great week in the Lord. God bless you all.
