Subject: Destiny Part 2

Here is Part 2 of Destiny. Part 3 should be up soon.

Part 2

"Flight attendants, prepare for landing." Carrie put the magazine she was reading down and turned to Eric. "Well it
looks like we’re back in Salem." Eric smiled. "It seems like no matter what we do, we just can’t get away from this
place, can we?" Carrie shook her head in response.

Carrie began to think back to her conversation with Kaitlin. She had agreed to meet Carrie in Salem for Sami’s
wedding. She was bringing Colleen with her. Kaitlin had made Carrie promise that she would tell her family about
Colleen. Carrie sighed. ‘This is not going to be easy,’ she thought. She knew her family would be angry with her. For
one, they’d be angry just for the fact that she hasn’t kept in touch. Two, the fact that she kept her own child from
them, boy, she could see the hurt in Marlena and Roman’s eyes. Carrie shook her head. ‘I have to do this, if I wait
any longer it’ll just be worse.’

The plane landed and Eric and Carrie got up to get their bags. They hadn’t told anyone when they were coming, so
they were able to get out of the airport pretty quickly. Carrie was supposed to meet Kaitlin at the Salem Inn. Eric was
going to be staying there as well. He didn’t want Nicole offering her place for him to stay. Carrie knew she would
have to explain things to Eric very soon, but decided to wait until they got to the hotel. "Ready to go sis?" Eric asked.
Carrie nodded. They hailed a cab and headed back to Salem.

Jonathan was sitting down enjoying his coffee and relaxing after a long day at work. He sighed as he heard the song
playing on the radio. "He looks at her, she looks at me, she’s got me thinking about her constantly, but she don’t
know how I feel. She carries on without a doubt I wonder if she’ll figure out I’m crazy for this girl. Crazy for this girl."
‘How true the words to that song are,’ he thought. ‘If only I had told her…’ His thoughts were interrupted when a
pretty young blond sat down next to him at the counter. She turned to him. "Hi!" she said very bubbly. Jonathan
turned and smiled. "Hey." He replied.

"I saw you here the other day. You must be new to town. My name’s Belle Black." She stuck out her hand and
Jonathan shook it. "Jonathan Daley. I remember you. You were with the curly redhead and two guys." He stated.
Belle beamed. "You remembered?" Jonathan nodded. "It’s not like I’ve met that many people here in Salem. I’m kind
of a loner."

"You should meet my brother Brady. He’s kind of a loner too." Belle replied. Jonathan smiled. "Well considering this
is Salem, I’m sure I will run into him at some point. It’s not like this place is very big." Jonathan knew she was flirting
with him, and he knew she was much younger than he. She had to have been in high school.

"So what do you do?" Belle asked intrigued. "Well actually I’m a singer/songwriter. But right now I’m working for
Sony. I’m working on a demo." Belle lit up. "You sing?" He nodded. "I majored in performance and business in
college." He replied. Belle hit him playfully. "That’s so awesome! Hey! My sister Sami is looking for someone to sing
at her wedding this weekend. It’s pretty basic wedding stuff. They’ll pay you. Would you be interested?" Belle asked.

"Are you serious?" Jonathan replied. Belle nodded. "Well I’d love to. Have your sister give me a call." He wrote
down his phone number and handed it to Belle. Belle felt like she was going to faint. ‘I’ve got his phone number! Wait
until Chloe hears this!’ Belle thought. "I’ll be sure to have her call you." Belle looked at her watch. "I’ve got to go
meet her now, we’re looking for bridesmaids dresses." Jonathan smiled. "Have fun." Belle smiled. "Oh I will. I LOVE
shopping." Jonathan stifled a laugh. ‘Definitely in high school,’ he thought. "Have your sister call me. It was nice to
meet you." Belle smiled. "Nice to meet you too. I’m sure I’ll see you around. Bye!" With that, Belle left. But not
without a final glance at the one of the cutest guys she’d ever seen. Jonathan saw her looking at him and smiled and
waved at her. She blushed and turned around quickly and left.

Jonathan turned to Clark who was working at the counter. "Who was that girl?" Jonathan asked. "That’s Belle Black,
the daughter of Dr. Marlena Evans-Black and John Black." He paused. "You’re not going to go after her, are you?"
Clark asked incredulously. Jonathan laughed. "No! She too young for me. She has to be, what, about 15, 16?" Clark
nodded. "I was just curious." Clark smiled. "Well she’s got it for you bad." Jonathan stared at him. "What?" He
asked. "Man, she was all over you like white on rice." Jonathan laughed. "I wouldn’t have put it that way, but if you
say so." Jonathan said. "You better watch it, Belle’s supposed to be dating Shawn Brady, son of Bo and Hope
Brady. Bo’s a cop, you don’t want to mess with him." Clark explained.

"Believe me Clark, the last thing I want to do is get involved in a relationship." Jonathan stated. Jonathan’s thoughts
began to drift off. He thought about the song that he had heard earlier. ‘I’m going to go crazy if I can’t stop dwelling in
the past,’ Jonathan thought. He turned to Clark. "Thanks for the info Clark. I’m going to head home. See ya man."
Clark nodded. "See ya."

As Jonathan left Clark shook his head. ‘Poor guy,’ he thought. ‘He doesn’t know what’s he’s just gotten himself
into.’

The Loft
Salem, USA

Mike breathed a sigh of relief as he walked into his new home. When he had decided to come back to Salem he
figured he should really get his own place. After all, Jack and Jen were married now and lived in the house, as well as
their daughter Abby and his mother Laura. He didn’t think they needed anymore people living in the house. So he
asked John if he knew of any available apartments. To Mike’s surprise John told him that he hadn’t sold the loft yet,
and that if Mike wanted it, he could have it. So Mike decided to take it. The only bad thing about the loft was that it
was lonely sometimes. No matter what Mike did he couldn’t stop thinking about Carrie.

Mike had stopped by Austin’s bachelor party earlier in the evening. It was fun of course, but Mike’s heart just wasn’t
in it. He didn’t stay at the party too long. He congratulated Austin, even though part of him still hated Austin for they
way he treated Carrie. I mean, he was marrying Sami tomorrow. ‘I guess it just proves that Carrie and Austin weren’t
meant to be,’ Mike thought. Mike was interrupted from his thoughts by the jangling of the phone.

"Hello?" Mike said. "Hey little brother, how are you?" Jen Deveraux replied. Mike smiled. "Hey sis. What’s up?"
Mike answered. Jen laughed. "Well you tell me. Jack told me he saw you at Austin’s bachelor party tonight. He said
you looked like you could use a brother-sister chat. So, here I am, at your service." Jen stated.

Mike laughed. "Was it really that obvious? Jen as usual what am I thinking about?" Jen sighed. "Carrie of course."
Mike replied. "Mike, I’m sorry. I really wish I knew what to tell you. I believe that you and Carrie will find your way
back to each other. Carrie just needs time. You were the one who left in the first place. Carrie was devastated. She
knew she couldn’t just sit around and hope you would return. She left pretty quickly after you did. No one’s really
heard from her. Just like when you left, she shut out the rest of the world. You two really can be so stubborn."

"Hey now, Jennifer Horton you can be pretty stubborn yourself." Mike teased. Jen smiled. "I know what you mean. I
made a mistake by running away. I can only hope that God will give me the chance to make it up to Carrie." Mike
stated. "Well maybe he will. The wedding is tomorrow. I know Carrie has been invited, I don’t know if she’s coming
or not. Marlena said that Eric was going to talk to her. So we’ll see." Jen replied.

"I hope so Jen. It’s been too long." Mike’s thoughts began to drift to the last time he saw her. God, he hoped it
wasn’t too late for them. "Well we’ve got a wedding to go to tomorrow, so I will let you go. Don’t think about it too
much Mike. Everything will work out for the best." Jen said. Mike smiled. "Thanks Jen. I will see you tomorrow at the
wedding. Good night."

As he hung up the phone Mike couldn’t help but smile. He loved his sister, somehow she could always read his
thoughts. Mike looked at the clock. "Yikes, I better get ready for bed." Mike looked at his suit that was sitting out for
the wedding tomorrow. "I wish I was going to our wedding Carrie." Mike shook his head. "I can’t think about it. I’m
going to Sami and Austin’s wedding tomorrow. I’m not going to drive myself crazy thinking about Carrie." ‘At least
I’ll try,’ he thought.

Salem Inn
Carrie and Kaitlin’s Room

Carrie had been lucky. Eric had to run off to Austin’s bachelor party, so she had time before he would find out about
Colleen. Carrie sighed. ‘I wish I didn’t have to do this.,’ she thought. ‘It would be so much easier if Mike hadn’t run
out of everyone’s lives. Where are you Mike?’ Carrie thought.

Kaitlin was humming an old Beatles tune to herself when she looked at Carrie. ‘She has that look again. I know she
must be thinking about the father of her child. She always gets that around Colleen.’ Kaitlin though. ‘I just wish I
knew why she and Colleen’s father were not together.’ Kaitlin sat down next to Carrie.

"Hey." Kaitlin said. Carrie turned to her and smiled. "Hey." Carrie replied. "Listen Carrie I know tomorrow is going to
be a big day for you. But trust me, everything will work out all right." Kaitlin put her arm around Carrie’s shoulder and
Carrie smiled.

Just then a knock came on the door. "That must be Eric." Carrie said. Kaitlin nodded. She got up to let Eric in. When
Kaitlin opened the door she found herself face to face with a very handsome young man. "Hi, you must be Eric. I’m
Kaitlin, a friend of Carrie’s from San Francisco." Kaitlin stuck out her hand for a handshake and Eric took it. ‘Wow,
she’s really pretty.’ Eric thought. He shook his head and smiled. "Nice to meet you." Kaitlin smiled. "You too. I’m
going to run to the lobby to pick up some things, I’ll leave you and Carrie alone to talk." Kaitlin smiled at Carrie, then
Eric and walked out the door.

As Kaitlin walked out the door she grinned. ‘Carrie did not tell me that her brother was attractive,’ Kaitlin thought.
‘He’s almost as cute as…no, I’m not going to go there.’ Kaitlin thought. She remembered she was supposed to be
going to the lobby so she hurried along to give Eric and Carrie some privacy.

Eric looked around the hotel room. He couldn’t help but notice a bassinet in the corner. There was a baby asleep in it.
Carrie followed Eric’s stare. She knew he had spotted Colleen. Eric looked over the sleeping child. She was
beautiful. Kaitlin looked a little young to be a mother, but he knew it had to be hers. Eric turned to Carrie. "What’s
her name?" he asked. Carrie hesitated, then forced herself to be brave. She turned to face Eric. "It’s Colleen
Grace…Brady." She finished.

Eric stopped. Had he heard right? Did she just say Brady? He turned to Carrie and noticed that tears were running
down her face. "Oh Carrie," he stated and then sat down and put his arms around her. "Why didn’t you tell me?" he
asked. The tears were flowing harder and Carrie was desperately trying to stop them. She sniffed and forced a smile.
"I didn’t know how to tell anyone Eric. I was so afraid." Carrie started. "Afraid of what?" Eric asked softly.

Carrie stood up and looked at her daughter lying in the bassinet. "I don’t know Eric." She replied. A thought then
dawned in Eric’s head. "It’s Mike’s isn’t it?" he said softly. Carrie continued to look at her beautiful daughter. Eric put
his hand on Carrie’s shoulder. "I’m right, aren’t I?" Carrie nodded. "Oh Carrie, now I understand. But Carrie you
didn’t need to hide her from your family. We would have supported you."

Carrie turned to face him. "I know you would have Eric. But I need to take care of myself. I hadn’t been on my own
in a long time and when I found out I was pregnant, I just couldn’t go back to Salem. And I knew if I had told the
family, they would have insisted on me coming back so they could take care of me. I didn’t need anyone to take care
of me. The only person I really needed was Mike. And no one knows where he is."

Eric hugged Carrie. "I wish I knew Carrie. I stopped by Austin’s bachelor party tonight but Mike wasn’t there. I did
show up late to the party though. I don’t know if he’s coming to the wedding or not. I should have asked, but I
didn’t." Carrie smiled at Eric. "It’s okay. When Mike wants to come back he will. And I will have to face him
someday. Right now, I have to face all of my family at the wedding tomorrow, holding this child, and causing everyone
to question what’s going on."

Eric looked at Carrie. "You’ll be all right. I’ll be here for you." Eric said. "And so will I." Kaitlin added as she closed
the door behind her. "Sorry to interrupt, but it’s getting late and we have a wedding to go to tomorrow." Carrie
smiled. "Yes we do. Thank you Eric for understanding. I will need you tomorrow when I tell the family." Eric nodded.
"Don’t worry sis, I’m here for you. Take care of her." He said to Kaitlin. With that he left.

Carrie turned to Kaitlin. "I don’t know how I’m going to do this." Kaitlin walked over to Carrie and put her arm
around her. "Carrie, everything will work out. As the Beatles say, ‘we can work it out.’ Don’t worry about it. Let’s
get some sleep so we can at least function tomorrow morning, okay?" Carrie laughed. "All right." As Kaitlin slid into
her bed Carrie looked out the window. ‘God, please give me the strength to get through tomorrow. I wish Mike were
here.’ She thought. Carrie sighed, and then slid into bed herself.
