Subject: Realization-Part Four

Sorry I took so long to get this part up. Been busy with work and traveling! Anyway, here is the fourth part. Sorry
about the wait.


Part Four


Carrie and Mike continued to gaze at the person in the doorway. The person gazed back at them in shock.
"I want to know what the heck is going on in here and I want an explanation now. How could you do to this to me,
Carrie?"
Carrie stared at Austin with a small tinge of sadness.
"Come in, Austin. It's about time we had a talk."
Austin walked into the bridal room, his eyes on Carrie and Mike. Mike walked over and closed the door to prevent
anyone from listening in the conversation. Then he returned to Carrie's side.
"It's about time we faced reality, Austin. This just won't work. We won't work out. I think what we had burned out a
long time ago when Sami walked into our lives and destroyed everything. She was always your first priority, Austin,
and you never seemed to be there for me when I needed you. Then Mike came along. He helped me through a lot,
Austin. I'm beginning to realize that our love was based on fantasy and physical attraction. There was never any real
communication between us, Austin. I'm not saying you are a bad guy. I'm just saying that I have come to realize that
you're not the man for me. I'm so sorry," Carrie said.
Austin stared at Carrie, tears in his eyes.
"I really messed up, didn't I? I'm so sorry, Carrie."
"I forgive you, Austin. And please do me one last favor," Carrie said.
"Anything, Carrie," Austin said.
"Don't resent Mike. He was always in support of me being with you, Austin. He was always urging me never to give
up on you."
"Wow, that must have been hard for you, Mike. Knowing you had feelings for Carrie and believing that she didn't
return those feelings. You must be so happy now to know that Carrie does indeed have feelings for you," Austin said,
becoming all choked up.
"It was hard, but that part is over now."
"Well, Carrie, there is one thing left that we have to do," Austin said.
"What is that?" Carrie asked.
"Tell everyone there won't be a wedding after all," Austin said.
Carrie and Austin exchanged glances of sadness, regret, and also hope. Hope for each other's happiness. Mike
watched the scene between Austin and Carrie.

A couple hours later, Carrie and Mike were walking in the park.
"Austin is taking this so well," Carrie said softly.
"I know. I was expecting some angry outburst or maybe a punch in the nose, but Austin handled this really well. I'm
so glad we can finally be together, Carrie. I love you so much, and I hope I will make you very happy."
"I'm sure you will, Mike. You already have made me happy. I guess we'll just take it one day at a time and see where
the road leads us."
Mike and Carrie stopped walking and faced each other. Then they embraced and kissed each other. It was a kiss of
hope, of love, and of realizing that they were meant to be together.
