Sort of like the trampy homewrecker all the guys fall for and the women see through because she's so bitchy to the competition. It just seems so transparent to me that he thinks he can Lani as a crutch because of the high school history you mentioned. Can't argue with you on Meka since he took up with Erika. He's got this woman who's known him all his life and would give all her spare organs to marry him and he just can't see it because he's too busy playing the stud master. OY!! Only character who's been in greater of counseling was Nailah after Justice died. And she went out and got it even if the guy did engage in malpractice. As for Lani, she knows exactly what she wants. But she doesn't know what to do about not being able to have it. They had an article in Psychology Today about Plan B lovers recently and that would seem to be a very apt description of what Russell's been for Lani. Miserable a choice as he may be for the role. But I'll tell you, Lisa, as much as I distrust Russell there is a way they could redeem him for me. If he's truly the one who's good for Lani, he needs a sounding board buddy. Like the role Paul or Garth have served on Suburb Sim. Someone who can listen as he tries to puzzle his relationship with Lani out. Wait. Better example. Like Erika was to Lani before taking up with Meka. One thing Pahala Shore seems to have struggled with is that really strong supporting character with senority. You've had some good ones like Connor and Kevin drift in for a while. But really only Donna seems to have filled that steady support role on this show. And speaking of Kevin, I agree with you about Sierra. Between his artistic streak and her Native American sensitivity, that could make a really great pairing. But not so much Nailah.
