Subject: Large neck whitetail

I'm new to taxidermy and have noticed that most form suppliers only require the A, B & C neck measurement on a deer. I also noticed that McKenzie provides the "D" measurement as well.

My question, if you are not using McKenzie forms, what do you do when you get a deer with a huge "D" measurement....and normal B & C measurements?

I took in a buck the other day with a 28" "D" measurement. The B & C measurements were compairable to other bucks I have with much smaller "D" measurements (22" to 24")

Using only the B & C measurements, I would order the same form for all of these capes. The cape with the 28" neck will be too big for the form.

Does this make sense???
