In reply to: MH 's message, "As a director and a judge, I would prefer that the Pageant dictate what I am looking for" on Sun, Jan 16 2005, 17:26:44

Thanks for the comments. The point I was trying to make was that the original poster (on another board) was insinuating that the judges were not qualified to be there, thus the pageant was invalid. (I could not disagree more.)

As a past pageant director I have tried many scenarios and arrangements as to what the judging panel looks like. I have tried LPJA, non-LPJA, professionals from the fashion world, photographers, pageant moms, and DJ's. Looking back each and every panel chose an outstanding young lady to represent us. Each had their own qualities (and faults) but by far the qualities out shown any shortfalls. The girl chosen may not have been the person I thought would win but each did their job. I have not been disappointed (just surprised).

Like Millie I like to give the judges and contestants as clear a idea of what I was looking for in a queen. Each time the judges rewarded us with a great selection.

So to the point that the Fur Pageant judges were not "qualified" the actual proof may only be in how well their selection reigns or if the organization sponsoring the pageant is satisfied with their choice.
