She was determined to keep this as a friendship and nothing else mostly for the sake of the children - she didn't want to have anything happen between the two of them that would make them move out - her children had grown to really love Gabe and look up to him, and she believed consistency was important - they'd already had enough of leaving someone they loved - she knew they couldn't take anymore. She was, in fact, so afraid of the outcome of any relationship that they started, that she wouldn't start it at all. She pursed her lips a little, eyes moving lazily to his hand, and sighed a bit. "Gabe, the kids..." It had clearly been a long time since she'd done anything to benefit herself and only herself, as she'd had the responsability of two innocent souls for years now and felt it was her obligation to protect them from any harm, even if it meant sacrificing even momentary happiness.
