I had a chance to talk to our batchmate, Onofre, Sunday night and today, Monday afternoon (just before his flight home to the Philippines). Thank you nga pala to Alexis, sa pagpapahiram mo ke Onofre nung cell phone mo!

We talked about a lot of things, reminisced about the good ole hi school days. Nakakatawang nakakaiyak nga, eh! We also talked about the restraints placed on him since entering the political arena. Onofre is heavily involved with the governmental goings-on sa Tagudin. He also heads several committees. It is a given that he works 6 days a week. That’s one of his biggest gripes, I suppose – tight sched, parang he’s getting pulled in different directions, and you couldn’t imagine the sacrifices he had to make…. He knew when he ran for office that the position he meant to fill required a high level of commitment, and he intended to fulfill that in every way he can, no matter the circumstances… Onofre, hope you don’t mind if I re-tell your story para sa batchmates natin.. 

Umuwi siya one day, after a long hard day at work. His child approached him.

It broke your heart, you said so yourself. I feel you, Onofre. You didn’t say it word-for-word, pero I get the gist of it.

Here’s the truth, Friend. When I first heard of Alumniana Agustiniana, I had my doubts. And those doubts intensified when I was not getting any feedback to inquiries I made about the program. I kept thinking, “Sooo.. how organized is this organization ba?” “ How come wala man lang communication?” “What’s up with Onofre?”…

I was out of line, and I’m sorry. I would like to blame it on a temporary loss of my so-called sanity, but it’s not true. It was, simply, selfish and idiotic thinking on my part. Same apologies go out to Josie and the rest of the gang there sa Philippines.

We did clear up some issues on the Alumniana Agustiniana Org. I’m going to cover this on my next post for everybody’s benefit. Gusto ko lang matapos ‘tong sulat ko ke Onofre ngayon para makatulog ako mamayang gabi!

More to come…….
