Subject: Alumniana Agustiniana Update

Author:
Mod
[ Edit | View ]

Date Posted: 07/27/05 5:20:52pm

Onofre and I talked on the phone this weekend, and part of our conversation was on the Alumniana Agustiniana Org. He stated that the membership did have sporadic meetings. It was hard to get everybody together because of conflicting schedules, and the members were all in different parts of the country. It was suggested that whatever questions we have at this time, it should be put in writing and sent to him. Kasi, because of busy scheds and outside interests ng officers, it is very easy to get side-tracked. Kung me paper trail nga naman, at least, it’s there in black and white, then something can be done to solve the issue(s).

The initial goal is to provide a full 4-year (?) scholarship to 1 child or dependent of an ’82 SAS graduate. The scholarship will be granted based on, but not limited to, scholastic and financial abilities.

From my previous posts, some of the things I wanted the organization to furnish the rest of the Alumni with are:

1. A copy of the drafted constitution and by-laws - I will understand if the draft is held pending receipt of membership fee.

2. Membership fee inclusions – What does the membership fee entail? For example, the membership fee might include a copy of the draft; it might also include the organization’s quarterly/yearly financial statements. The fee might also secure our voting rights in major organizational decision-making.

3. Proxy Voting – In the event that a member cannot be present to vote, is the organization going
to consider proxy voting?

4. Who do we send our fees to? How is it monitored?

I’m also going to ask the organization to furnish a complete listing (with address and other contact info) of every member in the organization. This is inclusive – for members only kumbaga.

Now, if any of you, Batchmates, have anything else to add, please feel free to post it here on our board. You can also email me at LizRamirez65@cox.net. I am drafting a letter now, and I plan to mail it to Onofre by the middle of August. He said that as soon as he gets the letter containing our requests for information, he would call an emergency meeting and hold a discussion regarding the concerns and suggestions outlined.

I thought it would be much simpler if we combine all these thoughts and send one letter out. If you prefer to do it separately, you can mail it to:

Eto Magandang istorya, totoong nangyari sa RCBC Tower sa
Makati...Gretchen Barretto regularly visits SPA dyan
elevator.

this old lady to step out of the elevator".

Greetings! Congrats for starting this mode of communication. We had been trying to get in touch with our other batchmates 82. We orgranized 2 years ago and the name of our organization Association of Alumiana Agustiniana'82. We drafted our constitution and by-laws and we are launching our scholarship program this June. The membership fee is 100 but for those who are fortunate, they can donate more for our program. The members who were present during the last meeting agreed to sponsor just 1 scholar who will be studying high school at SAS. If the scholar maintains good grades then he/she will enjoy the scholarship until fourth year. We are encouraging you to assist in this endeavor.Onofre is our current Chairman. Co -Chairs: Edna Cuaresma & Nora Salazar (Manila Chapter); Josh Borje (Baguio Chapter); Marie Dy & Gemma Somera (Ilocos Chapter); treasurer - Ederlina Medrano; Secretary Imelda Nazarro-Binayan. I forgot the other officers. We had already raised about Php. 10,000.00. The money is safely deposited at Rural Bank of Tagudin. Plan to transfer to MetroBank Candon when we have raised sufficient amount. The list of donors are documented. We had a reunion last December 28, 2004. There were only 13 who attended. Please keep in touch. Will update you later. Bye. God Bless!!

Hi Josie.. It's nice to know about the organization of Alumiana Agustiniana. I would like to know more about this, and I'm sure many of our batchmates here in the US and in other parts of the world would want more information as well. Maybe a copy of the drafted constitution and by-laws for starters? Also, what does the membership fee entail? Where do we send it? Since batchmates in the US cannot possibly be there for scheduled meetings, are we going to get minutes of said meetings somehow (i.e. on this messageboard, by mail)? On projects that require membership voting, is the board going to offer proxy voting to absentee voters? Maybe once our batchmates see details, Josie, then it'll be easier to snag membership fees from them (100 or more!) :-) (NT) -- Liz, 01/14/05 4:30:35pm

We may not be able to communicate so often, but we just pray everything's doing well to all of us each day. This is just a simple reminder for us, how Good and Great Our God is.
God bless!

Thou shall not worry, for worry is the most unproductive of all human activities.
Thou shall not be fearful, for most of the things we fear never come to pass.
Thou shall not cross bridges before you come to them, for no one yet has succeeded in accomplishing this.
Thou shall face each problem as it comes. You can only handle one at a time anyway.
Thou shall not take problems to bed with you, for they make very poor bedfellows.
Thou shall not borrow other people's problems. They can better care for them than you can.
Thou shall not try to relive yesterday for good or ill, it is forever gone. Concentrate on what is happening in your life and be happy now!
Thou shall be a good listener, for only when you listen do you hear different ideas from your own. It is hard to learn something new when you are talking, and some people do know more than you do.
Thou shall not become "bogged down" by frustration, for ninety percent of it is rooted in self-pity and will only interfere with positive action.
Thou shall count thy blessings, never overlooking the small ones, for a lot of small blessings add up to a big one.

Actually, we first heard of this over a Christian Radio Broadcast. We found it inspiring. God bless.

Take Hold of Every Moment
A friend of mine opened his wife’s underwear drawer and picked up a silk paper wrapped package:
"This, - he said - isn't any ordinary package."
He unwrapped the box and stared at both the silk paper and the box.
"She got this the first time we went to New York, 8 or 9 years ago. She has never put it on. Was saving it for a special occasion.
Well, I guess this is it. He got near the bed and placed the gift box next to the other clothings he was taking to the funeral house, his wife had just died. He turned to me and said:
"Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion".
I still think those words changed my life.
Now I read more and clean less.
I sit on the porch without worrying about anything.
I spend more time with my family, and less at work.
I understood that life should be a source of experience to be lived up to, not survived through. I no longer keep anything. I use crystal glasses every day. I'll wear new clothes to go to the supermarket, if I feel like it.
I don't save my special perfume for special occasions; I use it whenever I want to. The words "Someday..." and "One Day..." are fading away from my dictionary. If it’s worth seeing, listening or doing, I want to see, listen or do it now. I don't know what my friend's wife would have done if she knew she wouldn’t be there the next morning, this nobody can tell. I think she might have called her relatives and closest friends.
She might call old friends to make peace over past quarrels. I'd like to think she would go out for her favorite food. It's these small things that I would regret not doing, if I knew my time had come
I would regret it, because I would no longer see the friends I would meet, letters... that I wanted to write
"One of these days".
I would regret and feel sad, because I didn't say to my brother and sisters, son and daughters, not times enough at least, how much I love them.
Now, I try not to delay, postpone or keep anything that could bring laughter and joy into our lives.
And, on each morning, I say to myself that this could be a special day.
Each day, each hour, each minute, is special. If you got this, it's because someone cares for you and because, probably, there's someone you care about.
If you’re too busy to send this out to other people and you say to yourself that you will send it "One of these days”, remember that "One day” is far away... or might never come...

On the same token, with an expanding collection and a very limited storage space with MSN, it is necessary for us to move our Photo Site to another location that will give us a much larger storage area.

I moved the pictures from our MSN Photo Site to Yahoo Group SAS 82 Photos. Just follow the link above. If you already have a Yahoo ID, just sign in and join the group. If not yet a member, simply sign up. Once you become a member, you will have access to all the albums, including uploading and editing privileges.

Liz
[ Edit | View ]

Date Posted: 03/18/05 2:31:42pm

When this message board was set up, I was given an option on how this would be ran - moderated or not. I was tempted to make it a 'free-for-all' deal at first. In the end, I had to choose to moderate it.

This Message Board was set up in good faith - for Batch 82 Alumni, including friends and family. This is where we come together to share updates, news, and goings-on. We strongly promote friendship, unity, civility and tact. We welcome positive remarks, and strongly discourage insinuations.

We unwittingly say things sometimes that can be hurtful and harmful to other people. There are topics that are better left out of the board. These might be good conversation pieces, but we all have to remember - this is a public domain. Understand that what you say reflects on you as an individual, and on all of us as a batch.

This is where the MB moderation comes in. I, as moderator, will not knowingly approve of a message that I know will have a damaging effect on another person, no matter who it may be. I was forced to disapprove four messages in the past because of this reason. If you are holding a grudge against anybody, I suggest you take it outside this board. Get rid of the insinuations.

Last, but not least, most of you guys have been with us since the start of this forum.. I'm sure all of you have read ALL the postings. It is not a secret that the moderation of this forum is shared between me and Emee Calip(Padayao). With a full workload, it is hard for me sometimes to get online to update the board. This is where Emee steps in. We consult each other on decisions, including the answers to questions relating to this board, and deletions of certain posts. When you see "Mod" on a post, that means the post is from both of us - we represent each other.

C'mon Batchmates.. let us all have fun here. Let's have a good time. This board was created for this purpose.

I'm sorry I have to reject that last post. Unless you wanna submit a "toned-down" version niyan. No matter how memorable it might be, we do have to protect both the privacy and interest of people concerned.. though I have to admit it was very memorable.

Speaking of good memories, I remember when we were in grade school, we had a classmate, her name was Julieta. Her mother called her Juliet. She had nice, wavy hair that went down almost past her waist, and she was very shy.

I used to go to her house for sleep-overs. Her mother's very nice, very hospitable. We roamed around her neighborhood discovering little things. At night, we would be up til late talking about everything - from school work to friends to boys to dreams, etc. Thinking about all those little adventures we shared put me in a pensive mood everytime.

I wonder where she is.. wonder how she and her mother are doing... I do hope to see them again one day.

Here’s a typical day for me:

Get up at 5 AM just so I can be at work by 6. Work ‘til 4:30 or 5 PM (at least). Pick up my high schooler from school on the way home. Walk in the door; pick up all the ‘kalat’ that I see on my way to the bedroom. Change clothes. Get all the kids together to do homework. Not that easy, though. I have to kick off my 12-yr old from the computer (where he’s playing that darned game Diablo!); I have to get my 14-yr old off the phone (or else he’ll be on it all night); Lastly, I have to track down my 11-yr old – either he’s in any one of the rooms watching TV or playing games, or he’s in any of his friends’ pads playing ball (thank God for modern technology – cell phones!).

As soon as we’re all together, we go through the usual dialogue – “Mom, I don’t have homework.” “Ok, let’s check your back pack!” “Oops, I forgot there’s just this one little homework I have to do.” Sometimes, you would hear this, “Mom, I think I’m starting to get a fever.. D’ya think I can stay home tomorrow so I won’t be spreading this virus in school??” They know stuff like that doesn’t fly by me. They try, though. All in all, they're pretty good kids - both at home and in school.

Where’s my husband during all of these commotion? He’s in the kitchen creating something.. putting something together for dinner. I usually leave him there, unless I need ‘reinforcement’ with the kids. That happened once, couple of years ago, and it hasn’t happened again!

Homework done.. dinner over.. everything set and ready for tomorrow.. nice hot bath.. and I’m usually turned in by 11 PM. Very routine.

I guess what I’m trying to say is – just like the rest of you, I have come a long way from the life I led during our school days. Back then, I didn’t have to worry about anything else but myself – no responsibilities.. no ‘budgets’.. all I had to do was excel in school (thinking back now, I didn’t even give it my all – big regret).

High School phase is over, we are now at that stage where our families, most importantly our kids, come before ourselves. It is a stage where we almost have to keep a constant vigil over them, just to make sure they have everything they need. It is a stage where we keep a close watch on them so they do not make the same mistakes we did when we were younger..

Batchmates, I’m telling you now – I stumbled.. I fell.. quite a few times, actually. And some of those times have been quite painful. I’ve gotten back up, I survived. I’m sure most of you, if not all, have similar stories to tell. Somehow, I cannot imagine my kids going through pain that I went through. But I also realize that one way or another, they will go through their own pain and suffering, and it will make them stronger.

They will survive.. just like we all did!

that somebody.. somewhere.. could come up with some old pictures of our batch.. you know, elemetary or high school pictures.. I didn't bring any when I came to the States over 20 years ago, and I'm not even sure if they still exist now. That sure is one of my biggest..biggest regrets.

We will include them in out Batch 82 Photos Site, and we can also post them here on our board, if you wish.

Dear Batchmates, please share if you do have any.. thanks.

Since the beginning of this forum, we have agreed that respect is going to be required out of each and every poster.

Out of respect for our batchmates and friends, please refrain from using other people's names without their permission. I don't think that is respectful, and I also don't think that would be appreciated by the people whose names are being used.

Please be aware that when you post on this board, your IP address is automatically logged, and I do have access to these records. In short, I do know who is posting from what/which computer.

Okay lang, my friends, that we all have fun here. Okay lang also if you want to use an alias. Just one thing - please do not go over board.

Thank you... happy posting!!

To post individual pictures here on the board:

1. Upload picture to the world wide web

2. Post a new message, and in the message box, type the format: < img src="http://_________________" >

3. Replace the blank lines inside the asterisks with the address location of your picture (Tip: Right-click picture, click on properties, location is right there! Just copy and paste).

If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to ask me or Emee. Bottom line, you can always email the pics to either one of us. We'll be more than happy to post it for you.

Bye. God Bless!!

Ang galing mo friend! mayat launay datoy napanunot mo nga message board exclusively for batch '82.
Yup my husband is a programmer/developer, kaso busy din siya... medyo maraming oras daw ang kailangan to modify this forum. He has a suggestion tho at mas madali daw lalo na kung pag-popost ng photos. gawa na lang daw tayo ng Yahoo groups. That's how their batch communicate. nakakatuwa nga pag nakita mo yung mga pics nila. Just go to www.yahoogroups.com/ mukhang madali ngang gawin. the problem is... the messages can't be moderated. we'll just have to trust everybody to respect one another.
Well, I like what you've started already. or we can do both. talk to you later. take care....

Ladies and gentlemen, I am looking for somebody who has ample knowledge of HTML and JAVA applications for use on this forum. Right now, this board's purpose is limited to messages, and I cannot seem to figure out the graphic part of it, ie picture posting, cascades etc.

If somebody out there has any idea, every bit of help is greatly appeciated. If anybody wants to take over the forum moderation, I will gladly hand over the keys (user id and password).

Until then, pasensiya na mga kaibigan, with my limited knowledge on these things. I will just try to keep up with the messages until things get a little better.

Thank you.. I'll see you here on the board!
